Josh Alderson | Assistant Coach [Borderlands Juniors]
I’m Assistant Coach Josh Alderson. I’m a four-stripe white belt and have been part of the Borderlands family for over a year and a half.
You’ll find me on the mats five times a week, splitting my time between Gi and No-Gi. While I personally favor the intensity of No-Gi, I really enjoy the methodical, creative possibilities that come with Gi training.
Though I’m relatively new to the competition circuit—with my experience primarily coming from REORG and inter-club sessions—I’ve definitely caught the "comp bug" and plan to get more events on the calendar this year.
When I’m not training in the adults' classes, I’m assisting with Borderlands Juniors. My goal is to ensure they stay safe, keep learning, and, importantly, have fun as they grow within the sport.
Outside of the gym, I love training with my daughter, who shares a passion for the endless learning BJJ offers. I truly believe Jiu-Jitsu is more than just a way to build strength and fitness; it’s an incredible tool for boosting confidence and supporting mental health, both on and off the mats.
